Altar Servers

Pope John Paul II said in his address to Altar Servers around the world: “The altar server occupies a privileged place in the liturgical celebration…Therefore, in the liturgy; you are much more than simple ‘helpers of the parish priest.’ Above all, you are servers of Jesus Christ, of the eternal High Priest”.

Regina Mundi Altar Servers Ministry gives young Catholics an opportunity to grow in their faith and become more active in the celebration of the mass. We currently have 15 altar servers ranging from grade 4 to University, who serve on teams at our 5pm Saturday evening mass, 9am and 11am Sunday mass.

Besides serving at regular weekend masses, servers also participate in special masses (Confirmations, midnight Christmas mass, Easter Triduum mass) and weddings. Many experienced and dedicated altar servers in our parish have had the honour of receiving the Serra Club of Hamilton’s Bishops Award for Service. Annual outings and Christmas parties are also a great way that our servers come together in fellowship.

All young people of our parish, grade 4 and up are welcome to join our ministry. Training will be provided for all new servers and meetings are held 3 – 4 times a year. Consider serving your parish in this important and visible ministry.
