Marriage
“The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament.” You are about to arrange for a Christian Marriage. Marriage is a sacred life-long commitment. Our emphasis is on the deep spiritual nature of your relationship with each other and with God. (CCC 1601)
The Sacrament of Marriage is celebrated in the House of God. Your marriage should be prepared for by daily prayer, by serious discussion, by developing genuine communication with one another during the period of engagement and by regular celebration of the Sacraments of Eucharist and Penance. You celebrate your love for one another in the presence of the community of faith which gave you spiritual life and taught you love. Your Marriage becomes a sign of God’s unbreakable covenant; and you reflect Christ to all people through this sacrament.
