God's Love is Not Cancelled

I’m impressed that Michael has been keeping track of the amount of days we’ve been in COVID-19 Lockdown. I don’t know about you, but all of the days have melded together. Everyday starts to feel the same. Fortunately, it has given me enough silence to listen to my own thoughts and the questions that have been running through my head, such as:

  • How can I grow in holiness and mission in the mundaneness of this quarantine?

  • How can I live every day with meaning, purpose and intentionality?

  • How can I “go therefore and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19), if I can’t GO anywhere?

I was listening to a talk and the speaker said “God’s love and the Gospel cannot be contained by a quarantine”. This really resonated with me. This message of Love is universal and it knows no bounds. Our current conditions do not change the fact that God is inviting us to live in a relationship with Him. Our current conditions may highlight that we live in a broken world, but it does not take away from God’s goodness because we are restored through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Finally, our current conditions not only urges us to love God, our neighbours, and ourselves, but also challenges us to find new ways of doing so. We are living in a time where people need to hear, more than ever, the message of hope, mercy, and healing.

In light of this, I am looking for creative ways to share the Good News.  I have had the greatest privilege of being the person behind A/V Tech to bring you live streaming of Mass. If you’re driving along Upper Paradise, you may notice a bright blue sign sitting on our property. Collaborating with Michael, 6 feet apart of course, we created this sign in hopes to continue showing our presence and stay connected with the community. In addition to this, I have been doing a few things behind the scenes as well. I am continuously updating our current website, and working on a new website for our Parish. Finally, one of my greatest joys is leading a few Faith Study small-groups via Zoom and planning on launching this with our whole parish.

Public celebration of the Mass, Alpha, Bible Studies, Defending the Faith Conference and all of the plans I had made for 2020 may all be cancelled, but God’s love is most definitely not cancelled. I exhort you, invite the Holy Spirit and ask him to inspire you on how you can creatively spread Love in new ways.

Stay safe. Stay well. Stay connected. And, until next time, this is Robyn Aguila for This Old Church of Ours.
